Farah and Sharon

It is true, as somebody recently commented on my blog, that my words (here on the blog) have gotten less and less. And this will remain true until perhaps the next blog post; there is a blog post brewing inside of me in response to this article from Anti-whitey Weekly, I mean, OC Weekly, coming soon... maybe! Until then, here are some pics of Farah and Sharon from over the weekend. Let me know if any of you out there are interested in some model shots. Gracias!

That article is pretty inflammatory. I'm not sure I know what the author's point is, other than, white people who show interest in Asian culture are backwards and are the product of colonialism (read: racism). I wish there was a way to comment on it.

The article brings up the issue of white people saying stupid things to Asians. But just because white guys bring up boba or the Japanese gardens to someone who is Asian does not mean that they are some sort of fetish freaks. This is probably a silly way to try to connect with an Asian woman and it sounds stale and in poor taste to some Asian women. This reminds me of Margaret Cho's "Nortorious CHO" sketch where she talks about how sometimes people will bring up Asian issues around her, as if she cares if the person once had Korean food or knows another Korean person. So in effect, I think that much of this article had to do with differences in culture and people from one culture doing silly things to try and connect with another culture.

The author really put together a poor argument and the OC Weekly probably should have made her give something more substantial rather than judging horny white guys for being stereotypical in their attempts to connect with Asian women.

With all this being said, sure, there are likely some "Asianphiles" out there, but hey, everyone has a preference, huh. This is not to be insensitive about this whole thing because there is certainly room for dialogue on sensitivity and change on some levels with freeky fetish people. But in all of this we must remember that it is okay to have a prefernce for a particular type of person and it is true that even in the case of "Asianphiles", an Asian girl is still accepting the invitation to date or screw or whatever.

In a nutshell, the article is disapointing in that it does nothing to bridge the gap between communication and it just widens steretypes across the board. Not very helpful, poor logic, and it did not account for the fact that everyone has a preference (some black guys like white girls only, mexicans sometimes go for only white, sometimes asian men will only date white, sometimes white girls will only do black, etc...)-- why wasn't that brought up?

Hasta.

Very professional-looking photos, Cory. Nice stuff. Good subject matter, too. ;)

The OC Weekly article is no suprise. It's a leftist rag that thinks everyone is a victim of the white man. The arguments in the article are pretty pathetic, and a well-written letter to the Weekly would shoot them down pretty easily.

Hey guys! Sorry for the neglect to reply to your comments. In short, I will say that I agree with all that you said and so do these people who wrote letters to OC Weekly. Hope you all had a happy T-Day!

By the way, here is the writers' response to the letters received after the article was published:

Your Fetish, My Life
